Wahoo charters is able to take you out to fish for the common sportfish known as the Dolfinfish or also known as Mahi Mahi. We fish for these species around what we call FADS (Fish Attracting Device).

Fish prowl under these man made structures to feed and seek shelter. The most common way to catch these fish is by using live yellowtail. We also use poppers, soft plastics, or just a cube of pilchard.

This makes fishing fun when you see these predators take your bait literally out of your hands. Fishing with light tackle makes it all the more exciting. This type of fishing is highly recommended from late November through to late March.

“Fish Fingers” has been designed as the perfect vessel to fully explore the extensive myriad of reefs and waterways around Cairns. You can hire ‘Fish Fingers’ separately for self-drive – you’ll need a boat license though. The 6.2m (21ft) tournament-style fishing & diving boat is fully upholstered and with all the best and latest electronics and all other bells and whistles. It is surveyed to 15nm off the Australian coast, hire as U-Drive or hire with a skipper. The huge 3m canopy gives you great shade all day. the centre console features a huge 150 litre ice box – designed to keep your catch and bait separate from your own food and drinks.

Young Guns Fishing Adventures provide fishing lessons in all aspects in NSW. Young Guns specialise in land based fishing techniques for both salt water and fresh water species. Todd and Melanie have a 10 step Accuracy Casting Program they developed and are also acclaimed Australian Accuracy Casting Champions. Young Guns are also accredited by the Professional Fishing Instructors and Guides Association of Australia and are also long standing G.Loomis Pro-Staffers. Young Guns aim is to have children recognise that fishing is a sport as well as a recreation and have therefore created the following training programs.

Saltwater fishing Lessons (Land based ONLY)

We offer 3 different levels Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.

Beginners – We cover land based techniques using a threadline combo (spin rod) and bait fishing only. Time = 4 hours. Cost = $50 pp plus $10 bait. $120 per family plus $20 bait.

Intermediate – this is for people interested in fishing more as a sport as we cover techniques such as using a thereadline and baitcaster combo with bait and lure fishing included. Time= 6 hours. Cost= $80 pp plus $10 for bait. $ 180 per family plus $20 for bait.

Advanced – for people who want to eb competitive and looking to target certain species. The techniques covered are fly, rock, beach, surface lures and soft plastics. Time= 8 hours. Cost = $100 pp plus $10 for bait. $220 per family plus $20 for bait.

Freshwater Fishing Lessons (Land based ONLY)

We generally provide our lessons at these locations – Lake Lyall, Lake Wallace, Lake Windamere, Oberon Dam, Nepean Dam, Thompsosn Creek Dam. With these lessons we cover the following topics- Lure Fishing – selections, surface, soft plastics, blades, crank baits, jigging, spinner baits, stimulants, twanging. Bait Fishing – all tackle types, burley, bait selection, presentation of bait, live bait, knots and rigs. Fly fishing – selection, lines, knots and rigs. Accuracy Casting – fly, plug, spin. Accessories – Polaroid glasses, keeper nets, hook disgorges, grippers, etc. Catch and Release – methods and techniques. Time= 1/2 day – covers one competency plus accuracy casting and accessories. Casting Lessons

It does not matter if you have the best gear and the right bait if you cant get that bait to the fish you are wasting your time. Allie Hunters Tours offers 3 types of tours in and around Sydney – Reef Fishing, Sports Fishing and Game fishing. Along with this Allie Hunters offer harbour tours.

Reef Fishing – Sydney offers some very exciting estuary (within Sydney Harbour) and reef fishing (from Longreef to Bondi and up to 5 miles offshore). You never really know what you’re going to catch. Estuary and reef fishing is available all year round and most of the species make excellent eating. You can expect to catch Snapper, Morwong, Trevally, Kingfish, Jew fish, Leatherjacket…. and the list goes on and on!

Sports Fishing – Sport fishing is perhaps one of the greatest challenges that faces the modern angler. The aim is to catch as-big-a-fish as possible, on as-light-a-line as possible. The aim of the game is to catch the largest fish possible on the lightest of lines. We offer this challenge to our clients by enabling them to catch some monster Mahi Mahi. Also known as Dolphin fish these species are spectacular, aerobatic fighters. Freshly caught, they lights up in beautiful shades of green and yellow. Allie Hunter is able to catch Mahi Mahi on demand! We have our very own FADs (Fish Attracting Devices) laid in deep water a number of kilometres off Sydney… sorry, the exact whereabouts is secret! Although clients can use any rod and reel they wish, we recommend using 6Kg line class for the true sport fishing experience. We chase these fish using livebaits, lures and soft plastics.

Game Fishing – The Sydney offshore fishing grounds offer some of Australia’s best gamefishing that provides a variety of hard-fighting species. Blue, Black and Striped Marlin are all available from November through to May each year. The cooler months of the year offer large Yellowfin Tuna, Bonito and Sharks. The skipper, Hovig, practices and actively encourages ‘Tag and Release’ for all species of marlin. Alongside is a beautiful Striped Marlin that is about to be released. The yellow tag can be clearly seen left of the gills along the lateral line. The tag has a unique numerical identifier that records the angler, date and location of capture, approximate size of the fish, and the name of the vessel.

We operate out of Sydney Australia, and we pick up anywhere in the Harbour. You can come on a Day Fishing Trip on any day of the year. We will collect you from your hotel or cruise boat at 8.00am and then transfer you to your fishing boat for a full day’s fishing. We return to Aswan at 4.30pm, when we will transfer you back to your hotel or cruise boat. An experienced fishing guide will captain the fishing boat.

We provide each boat with up to three sets of rods and reels and a box of lures; you only have to pay extra if you lose any of the lures. A quality picnic lunch is included in the price and there is an icebox full of soft drinks and beer, which you pay for according to consumption. On a day trip a fishing boat will comfortably carry up to four people, with up to three of these fishing at a time.
