Being the southernmost capital city of Australia and one of the smallest has its advantages and disadvantages. Obviously the weather and water temperature make charter fishing more interesting. Even in summer you really need to prepare for cold weather but at the same time don't forget the suntan cream. The upside is that the area is not fished out like other states due to the low population and sometimes difficult conditions (especially in the winter). One of the main fish in the area getting all the attention are the large Tiger flathead. Of course there are many others that are targeted including the Striped Trumpeter, Morwong, Ocean Pearch, Trevally, and the occasional Hapuku.
Tasmania has world renowned trout fishing in some of the remotest un-spoilt nature in the southern hemisphere. If you are quiet out there you might be the first to spot a Tasmanian Tiger in over 70 years.
