Sydney has a large fishing charter industry built around the international tourism that the city gets along with the fact that some of the species targeted are offshore and not easy to get to for the average fisherman. Whilst the area has magnificent harbors and world famous views it is generally quite busy. Also outside the harbors and bays there are also plenty of fishing charter operators. You have to remember or be aware of the fact that this is the most populated area of Australia and most of that population is on the coast. As well as a large number of people living by the water the weather is also very good for ocean fishing all year round.
Sydney gets a good share of migrating game fish but not to the same extent as further north past Brisbane where the water is much warmer. Still the warm currents do flow south carrying many different species of fish. With this are great opportunities for game fishing with Black, Blue and Striped Marlin available from March through to May. For the cooler months you can still get some interesting Tuna (Yellowfin), Bonito and a variety of sharks.
