The gold coast region boasts a large variety of pelagic surface fish whilst bottom dwelling reef fish abound in our semi tropical waters. Species include Snapper, Pearl perch, Jewfish, Marlin, Mackerel, Kingfish, Cobia, Sailfish, Tuna and many more. We are also lucky enough to watch the Humpback whales migrating during the winter months, with whale sightings on almost every tour during this period. Dolphins, sharks, and turtles are regularly encountered and for the bird lovers there is plenty to see too, marine bird life includes Gulls, Terns, cormorants, Sea eagles and the mighty Albatross.

Being “mad keen” fisherman we are up to date with all the latest fishing techniques and methods. In addition to our Australian deep sea/reef fishing trips, we can organize deepwater jigging for kingfish, Amberjack and Sampson fish. Our Company Driftwood started off in late 2005 as a charter boat service in Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea. With the gradual expansion of the fleet of boats, the hunt was on for a suitable place to house them. After a considerable search, a perfect secluded bay and wharf was found at Point King, Milne Bay. With the knowledge that Milne Bay offered some of Papua New Guineas best fishing, the idea was hatched to combine the boats and newly acquired bay with recreational fishing tours. After a period of research, construction soon began at the Point King site. By mid-2007, the final touches were completed at the Driftwood boutique resort and the first tours began offering some of the best fishing expeditions and adventure tours in Papua New Guinea. The ‘One Day Barra’ tour takes you by air-conditioned 4WD to the spectacular Corroboree Billabong where aside from the chance to catch a Barramundi or Saratoga, you will see a range of wildlife.
