Castille Charters and its crew cater for all kinds of sports fishing and personalized charters from Cooktown, Lizard Island, Cairns and Townsville in North Queensland all the way down to the Gold Coast and Port Stephens in the south. We use a mothership so we can get to the best locations. Depending on the time of year will depend on where we are as we want to fish the best place at the best time.

We offer the opportunity to catch 1000lbs Black Marlin off Cairns; Jig for Dog tooth Tuna, Cobia, Kingfish, Trout and other deep water species; popper for GT, trout and other Pelagic species on the reef through to light tackle and Fly fishing in Townsville, down to the Gold Coast and Port Stephens for Marlin and Sailfish.

Marlin Fishing

For the ultimate adrenalin buzz with fishing go fishing for Giant Black Marlin of Cairns, Cooktown and Lizard Island.

Cairns/Cooktown/Lizard Island – September to December using heavy tackle.

70% of all the 1000lbs Black Marlin are caught/released on the Great Barrier Reef when the females come to spawn. We also snorkel on the reef, bait fish, jigging and popper for Scad, Mackerel, Yellow fin and dog tooth tuna, coral trout, queenfish, Giant Trevally and of course Giant Black Marlin. We usually finish fishing and head to our anchorage behind the reef about 6 PM each night.

Gold Coast – January to May – Light and Heavy Tackle, Private Charters

This area provides great light and heavy tackle fishing for Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna and Mahi Mahi.

Townsville – May – Mid September – Light Tackle and Fly Fishing

Cape Bowling Green just 30 miles east of Townsville is renown as one of the best light tackle marlin grounds in the world. There you can get more than Juvenile black Marlin, sailfish, tuna and mackerel.

Port Stephens – February – March – Light and Heavy Tackle/ Fly Fishing

Port Stephens is just 2.5-hours drive north of Sydney is one of Australia’s most picturesque and action packed fishing areas. Here you can get Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin and more. Sports Fishing Sports’ fishing is most kinds of pelagic fishing. We usually start the day with some overhead sports fishing for Tuna and Macerel as that’s the bait we use for the 1000lbs Marlin. So even fishing for bait is fun.

Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is no longer for catching trout and salmon, but with heavier tackle and wet flies resembling baitfish is employed today for a wide variety of species from marlin and sailfish through to bonefish, Dorado, sailfish, tuna and tarpon. We cater for all levels of experience.

Popper

Popper fishing is one of the most exciting forms of fishing and we do it by backing up to bait schools or the reef where you cast your popper in to the bait or reef. It is all done by sight so you get to see every bite and are therefore in the action. We usually target GT, Blue Fin and Tealeaf Trevally, coral trout, mackerel, and Maori wrasse.

Jigging

We often Jig for dog tooth tuna, amberjacks, king fish, giant trevally, trout, emperors, and many other species in deep water up to 200m deep as a warm up for Marlin fishing. We use spin or overhead reels with short rods spooled up with 50 to 100lbs braid but still cant stop everything.

Company Information

Boat

We have a 47 foot Obrien “Castille III” which is powered by twin Cummins QSM11 engines rated @ 660 BHP. Castille III can cruise at 26 knots with a top speed of 31 knots. This means we are extremely fast which gives more fishing time.

Captain and Crew

Dean started sportsfishing at age12 in Brisbane, Queensland. At 15 he was charter boat fishing with local Captains and crews in the Brisbane/Gold Coast area. In 1987 Dean had his first season in Cairns on a boat called Blackwatch. The year after he was crewing for Geoff Ferguson on “KAMARI” where he stayed for 5 years. In 1989 Dean started fishing in Japan and Hawaii for 3 months a year where he continued for 12 consecutive years. In 1992 Dean got his Master 5 ticket which allowed him to captain boats for different customers. Dean’s very first charter boat “Toompani” where he worked with owner Richard Cavill for 3 years. In 1995 he purchased “MAUNA KEA”. In 2006 Dean he met Mark Ripper and designed “Castille III” a custom O’brien Boat which he runs today.

The North Sea is a traditional wooden boat available for sydney harbour cruises, deep sea fishing charters or reef fishing. Fishing Trips can be either inside Sydney Harbour, or outside the heads. On these trips we target snapper, trevally, bream, morwong, pearl pearch, flathead, squire, nannygai and many others.

All fishing gear including bait is supplied. You also dont need a fishing licence.

Onboard there is a spacious deck for fishing and relaxing, toilet facilities and we have a Wayerways Authority Certificate.

Barra Fishing Day Tours. There are many options for day fishing for Barra from Darwin. The drive is not far, but the best location depends on the time of year and also the fishing conditions.

From March to late April – we fish the famous run off on the Adelaide River or Shady Camp.

From April to November we fish the billabong’s when they are accessable. One of our favourites is Corroboree Billabong but we will also fish Hardies Lagoon, Mary River Bridge and Shady Fresh.

We also Offer Run Off Barra Adventures/ Extended Billabong Barra where we recoomend a minimum of 3 days but 4 to 5 are best. These are our extended tours which give you more time on the water. During the run of we usually fish Shady Camp and stay at point Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge where accomodation, transfers and food is included. This costs $585 per person per day with a recommended minimum number of 2.

Untamed Fishing Adventures is owned and run by Mark and Louise Sedman, they have lived in the Darwin area since 1985. Mark has always been a keen recreational fisherman so it made sense to start a charter business.

At Untamed fishing Adventures we will always aim to put you onto fish but we cannot guarantee fish but what we can guarantee is that we will try to make your time with us a memorable one.

Vehicle – Traveling to and from the fishing locations you will be transferred in our late model 4WD air-conditioned Toyota Landcruiser. As will all our equipment the vehicle is maintained to a high standard and meets all NT Tour Vehicle requirements.

Rods & Reels – When Barra fishing we use quality Shimano Cronarch reels and a variety of rods including GLoomis.

When fishing the Bluewarter and the Reefs we use a variety of gear most coming from the shimano. While fishing with us we are more than happy for you to use our gear on a replace if lost or broken basis. If however you have your own gear that you would like to use please bring it along.

Vessels – We operate 2 vessels for both Barra & Bluewater Fishing Charters. “Barra Lodge 1” is our 6 m Quintrex and iis fully surveyed to carry 4 passengers and a guide. This is our main Barra fishing boat and has been customized with this in mind.

“The Tinny” is our 7.6 metre Bluewater specialist boat used to fish out of when you are out wide fishing the reefs or chasing pelagic’s. Powered buy twin 150 hp Yamaha 4strokes.

Sportsfishing Experience on the Great Barrier Reef, Deep Sea Fishing and Light tackle Sportsfishing targetting juvenile Black Marlin, Sailfish, Spanish Mackerel, Giant Trevally, Dog Tooth Tuna, Wahoo, Yellow and Blue Fin Tuna, Cobia, Mahi Mahi and many more. These fish are all found in the waters on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, just an hour out from Cairns.

With Reef Fishing we target amongst others Red Emperor, Coral Trout, Nannygai and Job-fish. The Juvenile Black Marlin, are also found less than one hour from Cairns, in the size range from 30lbs to 120lbs.

These charters are available all year round. The best season however is March to September and from December to January.

MOANA III vessel and MOANA Charters, are owned by Maxwell and Lorraine Stewart and operated by Captain Daniel McCarthy. Moana III is 47 ft Luxury Private Charter Boat.

Crew

The team are all Cairns locals who are addicted to fishing. Daniel is Qualified as a Master Class IV Captain and MED II (engineering) he has been skippering since the age of 21, thats over 18 years ago! He has extensive knowledge of the fishing waters around Cairns, Cape York, the Coral Sea, the Gulf of Carpentaria and New Guinea. He is also president of Cairns Professional Game Fishing Association, so is committed to conservation of a clean ocean environment and leads the world in Tag and Release Game Fishing.

Boat

Moana III (“the vast beauty of the ocean” in Polynesian) was launched late in 2006 to specialise in Game Fishing, Marlin Fishing, Light Tackle Sportsfishing, Reef and Deep Sea Fishing.

At 47ft she is Queensland 2B surveyed for operations to 200 NM from the coastline. She is surveyed to comfortably carry up to 12 passengers for day trips, with 6 for overnight trips and 4 for extended trips.

She is Fully air conditioned has a Private stateroom with TV/DVD and ensuite 4 single bunks, 1 extra double and 2 crew bunks. She has a modern fit out with 2 showers, 2 toilets, TV, DVD and CD Stereo, 240V Power, Convection Microwave Oven Cooktop 2 Refrigerators and 3 freezers and a Desalinator.

She can cruise at 25kts, max speed 32 kts and is powered by twin Cummins QSM-11s @ 660 hp each set at 580 hp.

Saltwatercharters WA specialise in Fishing trips, Whole Boat charters, River cruises, Abrohlos Island fishing, Rottnest Island trips and surfing adventures. For fishing we have 3 types of charters , Day, Night and Samson Jigging.

Day Fishing

Aboard the Interceptor you will experience deepsea fishing at its best in the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. We have the fastest fishing charter boat in Hillarys to get you to the secret spots in Craigs black book in order to catch your fish of a lifetime.

Our trips depart either from Hillarys boat Harbour or Fremantle East Street Jetty at 6am.

On our fishing trips we target species such as – Dhufish, Red snapper, Pink snapper, King George Whiting , Baldchin Groper, Queen Snapper, Breaksea Cod, Samson Fish just to name a few.

After eating a sumptuous provided lunch and a bit more fishing we get back into port at around 3 pm. We suggest you come down one day to see what was caught and compare it with the others!

Every crewmember is trained to release undersize and unwanted fish back to the sea floor. We will make sure your catch is dealt with humanly then put straight into the ice box to give you the best quality fish to take with you.

Night Fishing

Why not try something different from November to March we offer night fishing aboard our well lit boat. We departing from Hillarys Marina at 6pm.

Firstly we head west into the setting sun so you can sit back and enjoy the view as you anticipate the big one waiting!

Our main targets for night fishing are: – pink snapper, Dhufish ,Red snapper,and Mulloway.

We arrive back at Hillarys Marina to sort the catch at 2 am. Don’t forget to bring some warm clothes.

Samson Jigging

Jigging for Samson fish is an amazing experience and certainly not to be missed! Samson Fish are one of the strongest and best fighting fish in the world and a challenge. During the summer months they aggregate offshore in Perth to spawn. This is a world renown event and gives us the chance to experience the shear strength of the freight trains of the ocean.

You can test your endurance in trying to land a 20 to 40 kilo fish! We have the most experienced crew in and around Perth to provide you with expert jigging techniques and the latest gear to try. You need to bring your own jigs but use our finest rods and reels which are provided. Our crew have been taught by the authorities on release techniques to ensure these mighty fish come back again next year.

Barramundi Fishing at Corroboree Billabong – May to November

We pick you up from your accommodation in Darwin at 5:00 am and travel straight to Corroboree Billabong to be out on the water at sunrise. You’ll spend the day out on the water targeting Barramundi and Saratoga, and we’ll have you safely back in town by approximately 4pm.

Corroboree Billabong is part of the Mary River System and is a very scenic area, so it is very common to see a huge variety of birds, wild pigs and buffalos, not to mention some of the biggest crocs in the territory!

You’ll enjoy scrumptious cold meat and salad luncheons served on board the boat. We also provide all light non-alcoholic refreshments and cold water during the day.

Blue Water and Reef Fishing at Dundee Beach (tide & weather dependant)

We pick you up from your accommodation at 5am and travel approximately 2 hours to Dundee Beach, spend the day out on the water  targeting a huge variety of reef fish and have you safely back into town by approximately 5pm. The fishing at the Perron Islands offer a huge variety of reef fish, many of which are top quality eating fish, including Red Emperor, Golden Snapper, Coral Trout, Saddletail Snapper, Grass Emperor, Black Spot Tuskfish, also available are Queenfish,  Trevally, Spanish Mackeral and Long Tail Tuna.

Finiss River at Dundee Beach (tide & weather dependant)

We pick you up at 5am and travel approximately 2 hours to Dundee Beach where we target salt water Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon and Black Jewfish, and have you back into town by approximately 5pm. Saltwater Barramundi is arguably the best fighting fish, and of course the best eating fish, of the Barramundi species, and we are happy to bring your catch home with you!

Darwin Harbour, Adelaide River, Leaders Creek and secret local big barra spots! (tide & weather dependant)

During the later months of the year we fish the above locations, as well as Darwin Harbour, the Adelaide River, Leaders Creek and secret local big barra spots. September to the end of November is known as the ‘Build Up’ and is a great time to catch big saltwater Barramundi! Availability and pick up time is tide dependant, you’ll enjoy a full day out on the water targeting saltwater Barramundi, don’t forget we are happy to bring your catch home with you!

The Equipment & Boats

You will fish using our Shimano rods with Shimano reels and braid lines. We cater for amateur fishermen as well as top level experienced anglers. Once Government controlled bag-limits are neared we encourage the use of catch-and-release techniques on our tours. Our boats are 6.51m Oceanmaster surveyed vessels; they are custom built and very stable, with the softest and smoothest ride in aluminium. All boats carry satellite phones for your safety and have full canopies to keep you sheltered from the hot sun. We use environmentally friendly Suzuki 250hp 4-stroke outboard motors.

We have a minimum number of two people per charter and a maximum of four people per boat, but can also accommodate larger groups as we have more than one boat in operation.

Darwin Red Devil Fishing Charters is a Darwin based, family owned and operated company, specialising in full day bluewater reef fishing charters, half day harbour reef fishing charters, and Sunset Habour cruises. We cater for interstate, local and international visitors.

Full Day Trip

Fulll day reef fishing up to 30 nautical miles. You will start the day with a bacon & egg breakfast with a cappucino. Lunch will be prawns follwed by a bbq steak & onion with salads, also later on the day dips and nibbles for the ride home.

Areas we fish include Fish reef, bass reef, the pinnacles, Lorna shoals, north and south gutter depending on the tides. Fish that will be targeting include golden snapper, jew fish, cod, mackerel, coral trout, tuna plus many more.

Half Day Trip

This includes a 4hour reef and game fishing charter. Time of departure will vary as we only fish the change of the tide for the best fishing action. Depending the departure time you will have a breakfast, lunch or dinner, with prawns and salad.

Areas fished will include Darwin harbour, charles point, fish reef all depending on tides and weather.

The fish targeting to catch are golden snapper, travally, cod, tuna, cobia, jew fish plus many more. Our professional crew will assist you with all your needs to experience the catch of a lifetime.

When to go

Luckliy the Top End is generally very good all year round. The wet season January to March can be very good fishing weather permitting with great catches of, Black Jewfish, golden snapper, red emporer and coral trout. April to May the beginning of our Dry season are usually excellent for Jewfish and golden snapper,trevally and queenfish. June to September the weather is great and the fishing is excellent for not only reef fish but mackeral and Tuna. October to December can produce the best fishing. The Sea is usually very calm and a great time to fish for Black Jew and golden snapper.

Sunset Cruise

We also offer a sunset harbour cruise gives you time to relax and unwind with a glass of wine and a selection of fine foods, while you cruise Darwin’s Harbour and watch the spectacular sunset in a tropical paradise.

Inclusions: We use quality rods and reels spooled with braided line with tackle and bait.Tea,coffee and iced water included. We supply Breakfast, lunch and dinner depending the time of day we depart.The fish you catch will be fillited for you. We have a full liquor licence as we are the only fishing charter in the NT with a licence.

Darwin Red Devil Fishing Charters is a Darwin based, family owned and operated company, specialising in full day bluewater reef fishing charters, half day harbour reef fishing charters, and Sunset Habour cruises. We cater for interstate, local and international visitors.

Vessel

“Red Devil” is a very well equipped fishing vessel in current NT survey. She is forty feet long and constructed of aluminium and powered by a 500 Hp Scania motor which gives her a cruising speed of 20 knots. She is surveyed for 12 passengers plus crew. It has a full size table and bar stools, toilet, cappuccino machine, BBQ and all covered beneath a full length canopy.

Crew

Our friendly crew have many years of fishing experience and are passionate about their work. All our crewl have current Master, coxswain and senior first aid certificates as per survey requirements.

It is the only fishing charter boat in NT with a liquor licence.

THE 7.8m THUNDERBOLT WALKAROUND

Our newest & biggest boat, the pride of the fleet. Powered by twin 2008 model 115hp 4-stroke Yamaha outboards, it has all the best equipment for the serious angler. Licensed for 6 persons and up to 10nm offshore. An ideal boat for the serious angler to tow to anywhere in WA. Less than 2.5m beam allows towing at night and is equipped with hydraulic brakes & pendulum brake controller for your safety.

THE 6.1m HARD TOP

The 6.1 metre trailerised aluminium plate boat as shown above is powered by a 2008 model 115hp fuel injected four stroke Yamaha outboard offering great fuel economy. Licensed to carry 6 persons up to 5 nautical miles offshore & within radio range along the coast comes complete with all required safety gear including a Koden colour sounder & GPS (with over 150 waypoints plotted) to get you to the spots quickly, this boat has it all. Licensed under the W.A. Department of Transport hire/ drive regulations the boat is fully surveyed with a restriction of dawn to dusk operation for your safety. Supplied full of fuel the 200 litre tank is more than enough for any experienced & adventurous angler. For those wishing to launch early morning the boat may be picked up the night before the hire and returned the next evening refuelled and ready for the next hire. Longer hires need not return the boat each day.

Our smallest boat in the fleet, bought second hand, but completely re-fitted with new quality safety gear. Fitted out much the same as our 6.1m boat but just a bit smaller! Now powered by a 100hp 2007 model Yamaha 4-stroke and licensed to carry 5 persons up to 3 nautical miles offshore & within radio range along the coast. This boat also comes with a Koden colour sounder & GPS (with over 150 waypoints plotted) to get you to the spots quickly. Licensed under the WA Department of Transport hire drive regulations the boat is fully surveyed with a restriction of dawn to dusk operation for your safety. Supplied full of unleaded fuel the 200 litre tank is more than enough for any experienced & adventurous angler.
